Tomatoes help reduce the risk of strokeAccording to scientists from Finland, the results of their latest research say that regular meals consisting of tomatoes, as well as canned tomato juice, can significantly reduce the risk of stroke in the male population. The authors of the study argue that the more lycopene in men's blood, the less likely a stroke.

Lycopene is known to be an excellent antioxidant, and in this study it was perhaps the best remedy for free radicals, as opposed to, for example, beta-carotene. The experiment involved just over 1,000 male volunteers. Their age ranged from 45 to 65 years, and each of them was considered a healthy person. Scientist men were observed for about 12 years, estimating the amount of lycopene in the blood before and after the study. It became clear that the use of tomatoes can reduce the possibility of brain stroke by almost 55 percent, as it contributes to an increase in the useful substance in the body.
